Some of you may know that we just had another triple crown winner. His name is Justify. He is a chestnut thoroughbred with rippling muscles and a gleaming coat. If ever there were a beautiful horse, it is Justify. Now think about our little Apatchy. She is small, old, and with many different medical problems. In dollars, Justify is certainly worth more than Apatchy. But Apatchy is gentle and kind, and she has brought a smile to the face of more than one child. Because of these things, we know that Apatchy is worth every bit as much as Justify. It is easy to be impressed by the big, flashy, beautiful things that this world has to offer. But we have to remember that it is the small tasks that count. If we can bring a smile to a child’s face today, then it is a good day’s work.

Ella Fairbairn joined the Crooked Creek Farm summer staff this year. She vaults, rides dressage, and works daily with her mustang, Dancer. We are lucky to have her helping teach our riders horsemanship and basic riding skills this summer! Above is a devotion she shared one morning at the barn.
