Make An Impact

Volunteer:

To volunteer, please contact Tammie Anderson at 803-517-5131. Let her know that you would like to help with one of the following:

  • Barn Laundry: Once a week we take our laundry (girths, saddle pads and rags) to the local laundry mat to ensure that our horses and riders have clean equipment. This helps prevent fungus and saddle rubs from developing on the horse and is a very important piece of what we do.
  • Clear the Trails: Once a month we try to walk the horse trails to clear them of any debris and sticks that may have fallen. Keeping the paths clear allow our riders, horses and instructors to stay safe and avoid tripping hazards.
  • Keep the Barn Tidy: Every day we focus on taking care of our space. This means rolling up the water hose after using it, making sure the tack room and porch are swept and dusted, putting brushes back neatly after using them, scooping poop in the arena and much more.

Help us continue to provide a safe and wholesome environment for horses and people. Most of our horses are older and require special medicines and diet. Older horses are often the best ones to teach new equestrians how to interact and ride with horses. Their experience helps them be patient and take care of new horse people. You generous donation helps us to provide a good loving home and medical attention for our horses. Consider a monthly donation or a sponsorship of our horses.

  • Sponsor a Horse: The care for one horse is $450 a month. This includes grain, hay, medicine, supplements and staff time to take care of them. Most of our horses are older and require special medicines, diet and exercise routines to keep them in tip top shape. It is important for the horses to feel their best, because we want them to be patient and kind to our riders and new equestrians. Your gift of a full sponsorship or partial sponsorship can help make a new rider’s experience great!
  • Sponsor a Rider: A month of riding lessons is $260. This includes everything from the instruction to the horse to the helmet the rider wears. Our goal is to provide the opportunity for everyone to ride, despite their financial situation. On average we have 3-4 riders on scholarship at any given time. We make sure they have the right apparel and even provide show and clinic opportunities as they arise. Your donation can change a rider’s life, just like Mr. Ransom changed Tammie’s life (read our origin story here).
  • Staff Development: Help our staff continue their horse care knowledge, riding skill and safety training by donating to their continued education.
  • Capital Donations: We have many goals and dreams for the barn. A round pen, better parking, dressage arena, electricity and more. If you are interested in sponsoring a capital project, please contact Tammie Anderson (803-517-5131) to discuss your gift. With past capital donations we were able to build paddocks and shelters, this ensures that the horses are able to escape the elements.

In-Kind Donations:

Many donations are not monetary, but items you may already have at home or in your own barn. Please see our list below of items we frequently use.

  • White Wash Cloths: Help keep our horses clean, buckets washed, and hands dry!
  • Clorox: Help keep our water and feed buckets sanitary!
  • Sunscreen: Help keep our riders (and horses) from getting sunburnt!
  • Case of Water: Help keep our riders hydrated during and after their lessons.
  • Saddle Pads: New or gently used saddle pads help keep our horses’ backs comfortable and clean.
  • Fly Spray: Help us keep flies and other bugs off the horses.
  • Tack Soap/Conditioner: Help us keep our tack clean, safe, and functional!
  • Helmets: To keep our riders as safe as possible we replace helmets after any fall resulting in a head injury, if the helmet falls onto hard ground from a height more than six feet, or after being used for six years. Donated helmets must be new.*
  • Rider Apparel: Help us make sure each rider has basic riding apparel: paddock boots, jodhpurs, half chaps and gloves.
