On August 6th, 2016 riders of all ages and skill levels gathered at the barn starting at 6:30am. The reason? The End of the Summer Horse Show, a chance to show family and friends why they spent hours in the hot sun, sweaty and covered in dirt all summer. All the riders rode well, and the horses were on their best behavior! Below are highlights from the show for each rider!
Parker Dooley has gained so much confidence in the last year. She hoped on Iris, after only riding her three times in lessons, and took her over a course of small crossrails. Watching her confidently ride the newest pony in the barn, was very rewarding! Good job Parker!
Gracie Rupert visited Crooked Creek Farm with an Arabian named Silver to help give him some show experience. It was very obvious that she had practiced again and again and worked very hard to perfect her patterns, courses, and trail for the horse show. Way to go Gracie!
Abbie Bailes easily adjusted to any horse she rode at the horse show; but I want to recognize her ride on Zippy, a horse she practiced on twice before her classes! She rode Zippy easily and well, with her calm nature and gentle spirit. Good job Abbie!
Reagan Scoggins worked hard in lessons to understand Rosie and Iris and ride them well. She worked especially hard with her posting on Rosie. Her hard work paid off when she came out of the Walk/Trot class with First Place. Go Reagan!
Isabella Smith had many lovely rides throughout the horse show. However, one of her best moments was on Kisses, she gave up her chance to win in a timed event to make sure that her horse understood what she wanted instead of rushing through the obstacle. Go Isabella!
Demi Terry joined our barn this summer after riding Saddle Seat. She has been working on her Huntseat position this summer and communicating better with Apatchy. It was rewarding to see her continue to correct herself in the saddle and work hard to complete her equitation pattern, she even got Apatchy to back! Good job Demi!
Maddie Tongson showed us a lovely flat class on Iris and a well thought out and planed Equitation pattern and trail on Rosie. She has been working on her upper body position and it showed throughout all of her classes. Go Maddie!
Jessica Killian did a great job schooling Whisper in the Trail class at the horse show. Her steady and calm demeanor helped to remind Whisper to relax! Keep up the good work Jessica!
Katie Hughes started riding only last year. It is amazing to see where determination and hard work will get you. Last year she competed in the beginner section, this year she brought a horse that she practices with off site to compete in the advanced section at the horse show and came out with many high ribbons. Go Katie!
Chloe Adams worked hard this summer during many lessons to tackle posting on different horses! During the horse show she was relaxed and did several lovely posting trots, resulting in high ribbons! Go Chloe!
Maria Price displayed a wonderful and planned trail course which resulted in a blue ribbon. She did a wonderful job maneuvering Rosie through the obstacle course and setting them both up for success! Go Maria!
Peyton Wilson is one of our newest riders! She worked hard in early morning lessons and late evening lessons to learn to control her horse. She did a wonderful job in her flat classes keeping her position and Apatchy focused on the tasks at hand. Go Peyton!
Kailee Tongson did a lovely job riding both Kisses and Apatchy during the horse show. She displayed well thought out patterns and trail. Keep up the good work Kailee!
Brisen Gainey rode her horse Whisper during the entire show. It is very difficult to ride a big and powerful horse when you are only nine years old. Brisen did a great job making Whisper look easy to everyone watching! Keep up the good work Brisen!
Daisy Perez did a lovely job with Kisses in her walk/trot equitation class. She planned her transitions and posted well. Go Daisy!
Sara Jane Moore showed us that a relaxed rider leads to a relaxed horse! Sara Jane kept herself relaxed, despite the stresses of showing, and performed well in both flat classes with Iris. Go Sara Jane!
Kaley Curtis worked for weeks before the horse show on Rosie to not hurry through her transitions. At the horse show Kaley did a wonderful job of staying relaxed during her flat classes and not rushing into the walk or halt. Keep up the great work Kaley!
Ella Sexton worked tirelessly in lessons to understand Fergie and ride her to the best of both their abilities. Her hard work paid off when she came out of the Equitation Pattern class with First Place. Go Ella!
Meredith Moore made the Horse Show a family affair when she agreed to school Trigger in the advanced classes. It was great to see her put Trigger through his paces and keep him calm in the face of every situation! Go Meredith, we hope to see more of you!
Trinity Nivens rode Zippy well in every class. She kept Zippy alert and focused on going forward. Trinity’s relaxed nature and good seat made Zippy perform nicely. Good job Trinity!
Felicity Adams did a great job executing her equitation pattern and remaining relaxed during her trail class. Keep up the good work Felicity!
Heidi Sanders mastered the sitting trot on Kisses, which is no easy task! Hard work paid off as Heidi and Kisses worked as a team in every class, especially equitation. Way to go Heidi!
