Highlights from FENCE

On April 28th, five Crooked Creek Farm riders and horses ventured to FENCE. The classes were huge and there was lots of activity, but the Crooked Creek Farm riders used safety, good judgement, and all of their horsemanship skills to compete! Below are highlights for each rider and horse pair!

IMG_1004Mary Frances Pursley took Apatchy to her very first off site horse show! The pair had two very difficult patterns to memorize and worked hard in lessons to learn them. At the horse show Mary Frances did a great job navigating Apatchy through the showmanship course and kept her trotting during the trail obstacles! Keep riding Mary Frances!

Avary Sizemore
took Diamond to her very first off site horse show! The pair proved extremely competitive in the In-Hand and Showmanship classes, taking the patterns very seriously. During the trail, the pair executed each obstacle carefully, correctly, and completely before moving on to the next, the judge was impressed! Good job Avary!

IMG_1031Peyton Wilson competed with her horse Sassy Sage! The highlight of the day was getting to do the Advanced Trail with a perfect canter transition! Using her knowledge of aids and timing transitions, Peyton executed an excellent trot to canter transition during the trail. Thanks to Peyton’s ring savviness, the pair also safely navigated large flat classes finding their own spot and ensuring that the judge noticed them. Keep riding Peyton!

IMG_1096Kaley Curtis competed with Lincoln during her first off site horse show! Lincoln was a bit nervous or excited at times, but Kaley remained a steady and quiet rider making the two of them quite competitive. During the flat classes with upwards of 19 horse and rider pairs, Kaley used half halts and good ring management to find her own spot in the arena and make sure that the judge noticed her. Good job Kaley!

IMG_1123Brisen Gainey competed with Fergie. The pair competed in heavily populated flat classes with very large horses and older riders. Brisen’s equitation along with her correct use of aids and ring management made the small pair very competitive and even earned a compliment from the judge. Keep riding Brisen!

A huge thank you to Caleb Wilson and Eddie Hyrowski for trailering our horses and making sure they reached the show and got home safe and sound! Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, siblings, and cousins who ventured to the horse show to help our riders feel confident and supported! You all are awesome!
