The barn is more than just a place to ride—it’s a place to grow. Through our Staff and Work Study Training Program, young people gain valuable experience that prepares them for college, careers, and life beyond the arena.
Each work study participant learns responsibility by caring for horses, maintaining equipment, and helping lessons run smoothly. These daily tasks require reliability, time management, and attention to detail—skills that translate directly into any future workplace. Students learn to problem-solve, communicate effectively with peers and instructors, and take initiative when challenges arise.
During our latest Staff and Work Study Training we focused on doing our everyday tasks to the best of our ability, finding something that needs to be done and doing it and teaching. Our session ended with the staff and students teaching a short lesson. Everyone had to speak loudly, pay attention and be mindful of safety.
The barn may teach horsemanship and riding, but the lessons go far beyond the saddle. The habits formed here—commitment, accountability, and teamwork—lay the foundation for success wherever our young people choose to go next.
