About Crooked Creek Farm SC

Crooked Creek Farm SC

In the early 70s Sydney W. Ransom, a horseman and trainer, saw a young Tammie Anderson looking at his horses from a garden beside his paddock and offered to teach her to ride. Tammie’s family didn’t have the funds for riding lessons, but Mr. Ransom took her under his wing and began to teach her the sport we all love. Passing on Mr. Ransom’s teachings Tammie saw the importance of horses and ensured that her two children, Savannah & Buddy, received lessons and spent as much time as possible at the barn when they were little. When the family got horses, once again reflecting in Mr. Ransom’s actions, they shared them- giving pony rides and eventually teaching lessons. As the farm grew and gained more team members, they continued to follow the example Mr. Ransom set: giving back, helping others to learn, ensuring that everyone is included, using safety and good judgment to pass on the knowledge of this sport we all love.

Our Organization

Located in Clover, South Carolina, Crooked Creek Farm is dedicated to creating a safe and wholesome environment for riders of all ages to learn and interact with horses. We strive to teach riders a comprehensive knowledge of the horse as well as create a community in which they feel safe learning and having fun. Using primarily rescue horses, the Crooked Creek Farm staff and volunteers teach riders the value of second chances and promotes a strong bond between horse and rider.

Meet The Team

Maria Price Staff Instructor
Maria Price is a longtime rider with experience on the College of Charleston equestrian team. Price is a calm presence at the barn and ringside during competition. Her simple and easy going advice helps calm riders nerves and prepare them for competition. In lessons Price focuses on foundational riding to help build competitive and well rounded riders who can overcome any obstacle.

Felicity Adams Staff Instructor
Felicity specializes in the dressage arena and teaching the foundations of what it takes to be a good horseperson. Lessons with Adams include horse care, grooming as well as balanced and confidence boosting riding. When she is not teaching or helping the barn run smoothly, she competes in Endurance Riding. Savannah Anderson competes regularly in the hunter jumper arenas and dabbles in eventing. Anderson rode on both junior varsity and varsity teams in high school and competed with College of Charleston’s equestrian team during college. Anderson works full time in Rock Hill, but teaches riding lessons and takes riders to horse shows on Saturdays.

Tammie Anderson Staff Instructor
Tammie Anderson grew up on riding and showing on the coast of South Carolina. Most days you can find Anderson working around the barn to make it the best it can be, but some days lucky riders have the privilege of her instruction during lessons.
